Position Title: Match Support Specialist

Primary Purpose of Position

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Minnesota is a dynamic mentoring agency that provides youth with professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships.  We are currently seeking a full-time Match Support Specialist.  This position has the primary responsibility of supporting the match relationship between a volunteer (Big) and child (Little) to maintain the highest standards of child safety and to promote a long-term and impactful relationship.

 

Essential Job Functions

The Match Support Specialist must have the ability to:

  1. Coordinate new match introductions.
  2. Coordinate and maintain regular case contacts so that national and agency standards are met to ensure success, child safety, risk management and retention of matches.
  3. Analyze, interpret, make deductions from facts and/or circumstances to best serve client and/or volunteer.
  4. Determine individual training needs, information and support for each participant in the program to make it a successful experience for the child and volunteer.
  5. Handle all communication with child, parent/guardian and volunteer so they are aware of activities and events being held by the agency.
  6. Assist with program policy development and revisions, evaluations.
  7. Assist in planning and participate in all group activities and workshops for volunteers and matches.
  8. Coordinate, participate and/or assist in program activities, the presentation of workshops, trainings and fundraising events.
  9. Provide and update statistical information for reporting purposes.
  10. Provide information and referral sources for clients that do not meet the program eligibility requirements of the agency guidelines.
  11. Update and maintain databases (AIM) for matches.
  12. Provide accurate, objective, time sensitive documentation of match support.
  13. Maintain confidentiality and be competent in the process of mandated reporting.

 

Other Responsibilities

  1. Follow safe practices in all work activities to avoid injuries and accidents.
  2. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  3. Serve on other Boards or attend community meetings as needed (i.e. Human services, Exchange Club Center for Family Unity, etc.)
  4. Work as needed on evenings and weekends to attend planned events promoting the agency.

 

Supervision of Others

No direct supervision of others.

 

Minimum Position Requirements

  • Four-year degree required, preferably in psychology, counseling, social work, human services or a related field
  • Minimum one-year experience in relating to and managing volunteers, preferred
  • Ability to establish rapport with children and adults from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to initiate, organize priorities and tasks to completion with minimal supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail and presentation skills
  • Must be proficient with personal computers and software applications
