Dear Friends of Big Brothers Big Sisters,
“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” —William Arthur Ward
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It’s a time to reflect on what we are thankful for. We spend time with family, friends and the ones we love. Thanksgiving doesn’t have the pressure and stress of the other holidays; it promotes kindness and thankfulness.
In preparing for this email I looked up gratitude and thankfulness and spent some time examining what it all means. There is a lot written about the subject and many opinions and great quotes. I agree with the writings that being grateful and showing thankfulness is as rewarding to the giver as to the receiver. This is so commonly the case with volunteering and donating. As we give of ourselves, either through time or treasure, we receive so much more in return.
In the spirit of the season, I want to extend my sincere gratitude to you for all that you do to support the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters. It is because of you that our agency is able to match more youth with positive role models year after year. Thank you for believing in the potential of all youth. Together, we are defenders of potential.
