Gopher Sport has been a Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Minnesota Agency Partner since 2012. To them, and to our agency, that means much more than a donation. Just as business partners work together for the success of all, an Agency Partner with Big Brothers Big Sisters is about helping each to succeed. Like any partnership, we share common goals and celebrate our successes.
Over the years, Gopher Sport has led the way in defending potential of youth in our communities by hosting a Big for a Day event with their employees, financially supporting our agency, recruiting employees to become Bigs and participating in our fundraising events like Bowl for Kids’ Sake, Evening for Kids’ Sake and Golf for Kids’ Sake.
One of our common goals is the health and wellbeing of the youth in our area. Gopher Sport’s partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters makes our Sports Buddies program possible. Sports Buddies allows us to provide physical activities to our matches, opportunities to play organized sports and even tickets to professional sporting events.
ORGANIZED SPORTS
Big Brothers Big Sisters organizes more than 50 sports related activities a year, giving our Bigs and Littles a chance to be active together. Matches enjoy gaga ball, dodgeball, basketball, kickball, pickle ball, and more. Some of the kids in our program have never experienced playing a sport outside of gym class. Our Sports Buddies program provides our Littles with the opportunity to learn sportsmanship, develop teamwork and acquire skills that will last a lifetime.
SPORTS EXPERIENCES
Some sports activities may be out of reach for some of our Littles. Experiencing horseback riding, golfing, archery, fishing or yoga require special equipment, instruction and transportation. With the help of Gopher Sport, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes it possible for our Littles to have these otherwise unattainable experiences.
EVENT TICKETS
Through the support of Gopher Sport, Big Brothers Big Sisters provides tickets and transportation to professional sporting events like the Timberwolves, Wild, Twins and Gophers. For some of our Littles and Bigs – this may be the first time they have the opportunity to see a professional team live. Outings like this with our Bigs and Littles, not only creates memories for the match, they provide a love of the game for a lifetime.
Our Agency Partners receive top billing at our events and in our communications. But the greatest benefit of becoming a Big Brothers Big Sisters Agency Partner is that together we are defending the potential of children in our community and paving the way for the biggest possible future for our youth.
